Eczema Patient VS Nurse

Nurse : Hi good morning, My name is OET Answers, one of the nurse in charges of this clinic. How may I help you?

Patient : Hi I’m Agnes Mabel. I would like to have a consultation for my skin condition.

Nurse : Ooh all right Mabel. Could you please explain the condition.

Patient : Nurse, I have got a skin infection. The rashes are permanently itchy and cause redness but it lasts for few hours and goes off.

Nurse : Okay, may I know when you first noticed it?

Patient : I noticed it, a week before.

Nurse : Have you tried any medications?

Patient : I just applied powder, no other medications.

Nurse : Is it the first time you are encountering these symptoms?

Patient : Yes nurse.

Nurse : Okay, on account of your symptoms such as skin redness, papules and an itching seem to be eczema.

Patient : Eczema.. Nurse could you please explain it?

Nurse : Eczema is a common skin condition marked by itchy and inflamed patches of skin.

Patient : Okay but what might be the cause of it?

Nurse : Sure, I can brief it. The cause of eczema is not fully understood but it’s believed to be triggered by an overactive immune system. That responds aggressively when exposed to irritants. So, is it because of any damages to my immune system. Now I will explain it to you. Eczema is sometimes caused by an abnormal response to proteins that are part of the body. Normally the immune system ignores proteins that are part of the human body and attacks only the proteins of invaders such as bacteria or viruses. In eczema the immune system loses the ability to tell the difference between the normal protein and foreign proteins which causes inflammation.

Patient : Oh really. How to avoid this situation?

Nurse : An eczema flare-up is when one or more eczema symptoms appear on the skin. Common triggers of eczema flare-ups include chemicals found in cleaners and detergents that dry out the skin. Rough scratchy material like wall synthetic fabrics, raised body temperature, sweating temperature changes a sudden drop in humidity, stress, food allergies, animal dander, upper respiratory infections ect..

Patient : Oh my god, it’s ridiculous.

Nurse : Don’t worry Mabel. There are remedies for eczema.

Patient : What can be done now nurse?

Nurse : Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction and improved sleep can reduce the likelihood of an eczema flare-up. Avoid irritants like rough fabrics, harsh, soaps and detergents. Cold weather can also dry out the skin and trigger flare-ups.

Patient : Is there any medication for this condition?

Nurse : I’m sorry to say that there’s currently no cure for eczema. Treatment for this condition aims to heal the affected skin and prevent flares of symptoms.

Patient : Oh no.

Nurse : Kindly don’t be upset if an allergic reaction results in a flare-up of your eczema, you need to avoid the substance that triggers it.

Patient : Yes, I understand that.

Nurse : Eczema often comes and goes. When it appears, you might need to try different medicines and other treatments to get rid of the rash.

Patient : Okey. What are the medications that I should have?

Nurse : Doctors will suggest a treatment plan based on an individual’s age symptoms and current state of health.

Patient : All right nurse, kindly book an appointment for me with the dermatologist.

Nurse : Is there anything that I can do for you?

Patient : No.. Thank you for your valuable information..

Nurse : It’s my pleasure.
